We will be closing on Saturday's but opening late on Thursday nights to allow for contact out of hours. During the Summer months we will then be opening late on Thursday & Friday nights, to help boost service levels during peak times.

Grouville FC - FA Charter Standard Community Club

Grouville Football Club have become the fourth club in Jersey to gain the prestigious FA Charter Standard Community Club award. They join Jersey Wanderers, St. Pauls and St. Peter to be a recognised by the FA as being at the pinnacle of the Charter Standard Club programme. The Community Club initiative is aimed at developing the structure and quality of Clubs and building on the foundations of the Charter Standard Club Scheme - it is a major priority within the National Game Strategy.

FA Community Clubs are required to meet criteria ensuring they provide opportunities for players irrespective of age, gender, background or ability. Along with development plans, clubs must provide football for a minimum of ten teams ranging from youths through to adults with qualified coaches who have an awareness of child protection issues and first aid.

Grouville FCs, Vice President and Honorary Secretary Bob Richardson said “The Charter Standard scheme is a valuable part of the way we function. The scheme focuses the club away from 'winning at all costs' and much more towards 'improving the quality' of football provision.

"This has been achieved through the production of a four year strategic development plan outlining where we are as a Club, were we want to get to and how we are going to get there.

"Our volunteers are all CRB checked and our coaches have to obtain a minimum Level 1 CCF coaching qualification. They must also hold up to date, emergency first aid and safeguarding children certificates.

"Appropriate behaviour within the Club is also an important part of the scheme and codes of conduct are provided for our players, coaches, officials and spectators to follow.

"The Club wishes to thank Football Development Manager Brian Oliver for his assistance in obtaining this status. We are very proud to have been recognised by the Jersey FA and FA for the standards we are achieving and for the work that goes on within our Club."

Jersey FA Football Development Manager, Brian Oliver said “Within our National Game Strategy, we have made a commitment to raise standards, to encourage more people to play, to develop better players and to run the game more effectively.

“Our aims are reflected by Grouville FC and all those involved at the Club should be immensely proud of their achievement – they are providing a fantastic service for football on the Island.

“Gaining this status has not been easy but has been achieved by a Club who have continued to commit themselves to be at the heart of the local football community, not only for existing players, coaches, administrators and supporters but for future generations of participants also”.

The search for a new sponsor is over as Pro-Active Teamwear agree a three year investment in the West Riding Girls League.

The rapidly growing Grimsby based sportswear company already invest a great deal of time and money into youth football and by adding the West Riding Girls League to their portfolio they are hoping to maintain the growth already achieved by partnering with some of the biggest leagues in the country.

Hull Boys Sunday Football League Awarded

Proactive Teamwear Ltd, as sponsors of the league, would like to pass on congratulations to the Hull Boys League as they are the first to receive the Charter Standard League award.

The Hull Boys Sunday Football League (HBSFL) is celebrating after becoming the first League in England to achieve the prestigious FA Charter Standard League award.

The Charter Standard League award is a flagship initiative for The FA, and assesses the ability of a League to provide a high quality, safe and enjoyable football experience against a standard set of criteria. It also encourages the League to continually develop, through ongoing support from staff at the East Riding FA and the review and ongoing development of a League Development Plan, as part of an annual health check process.

Quite fittingly, the League is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is currently providing football for just under 6,000 players each week through its 416 member teams.

"I am delighted that the Hull Boys League was the first in England to achieve the Charter Standard League award," said Andrew Hailwood, The FA’s Regional Football Development Manager (North).

"It is testament to the commitment and progressive attitude of this League and its’ member clubs that the League was able to come through this process in such a short space of time. Many other Leagues around the region and the country are seeking to emulate the Hull Boys League, but are finding that they still have significant work to do before they achieve the standard.

"Charter Standard League status is far more than a paper exercise," he continued. "It is a process through which a League and its clubs can look to improve their activities across a range of areas including, child protection, coaching, officiating and administration. Hull Boys League should be applauded for embracing this process and demonstrating that they are constantly striving to improve, for players, coaches, referees and clubs."

As part of the criteria to attain the League award, Clubs have also had to become Charter Standard Clubs and therefore undertake some key areas of improvement in their operating standards. Each Club must now have in place amongst other things, a Club Welfare Officer, a Child Protection Policy, all volunteers to have CRB checks, managers/coaches to have appropriate coaching, Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid qualifications.

This work coupled with support from the East Riding FA Development Team has also meant that in excess of £150,000 has been accessed via the Football Foundation Small Grants Scheme which has gone directly to many of the member Clubs to help create over 100 new teams over the next three years.

Graham Turner, Football Development Officer for the East Riding FA, said: "To attain the Charter Standard League award is a fantastic achievement, and this League should be congratulated for their positive and forward thinking attitudes to the development of junior football in the area.

"The member clubs also need credit as they have put a lot of hard work into achieving Charter Standard Club status, therefore allowing the League to be in a position to apply for the award.

"Achieving the Charter Standard League award and the level of investment accessed for the member clubs will ensure that the League will continue to grow and provide a quality football experience for many years to come."

Les Fussey, Chairman of the Hull Boys Sunday Football League, spoke of his delight at achieving this kitemark: "This award is about us achieving high standards in providing safer, more enjoyable football for boys and girls at the younger age, through bringing a much needed emphasis on ‘Respect’ both on and off the field. It’s also about opening the doors for development opportunities for clubs and teams through the excellent development team at the East Riding FA who we have to thank for their hard work in helping us achieving this award.

"The kids are the most important beneficiaries whilst mums and dads should be able to go to matches and enjoy what they see instead of worrying about bad behaviour. Charter Standard clubs and teams can get much needed cash in small grants.

"We have become leaders in the field of providing great opportunities for our kids."

Football League & Precision Training Announce New Deal

The Football League has announced that Precision Training is to become the Official Training Aids Supplier of The Football League in a brand new three-year deal.

The new agreement will see Precision Training supply market-leading training equipment to club community programmes across The League. Each participating club will receive an annual supply of cones, speed ladders, boundary poles and ancillary training items to assist their effort to promote participation in football in their local area.

In announcing the new agreement with Precision Training, Football League Chairman Lord Mawhinney said: “I am delighted to welcome Precision Training as the latest official supplier in The League’s commercial programme.”

“The equipment they supply will help our clubs provide even more opportunities for local people to take part in professionally organised and equipped football activities.”

David Sanderson, national sales manager for Precision Training, said: "This is one of the most exciting and ambitious partnerships we have entered into in the four-year evolution of Precision Training.

"We are delighted to have played a significant role in the increased participation of grass roots football throughout the UK across all age ranges.
